I found this documentary — The WEIRD Animated Side of MTV — that describes the trajectory of MTVs animation programming. I did not know that so many iconic characters and ideas actually originated from MTV! Highly recommend watching it! I am yet to finish the video — but the versatility and quality of the animations and the styles; packed with quirky rawness is just pure awesome. Every time I come across such raw-punk-creative-freedom, it reminds me of how stiff and judgemental my own art is. And how I have this tendency to ‘over-polish’ everything (Must be some deep rooted insecurity on my part! Aaah!). Not to mention that the styles definitely seem to work for faster production timelines.

For Bandar Chhaap, I am really captivated by some of the expressive aesthetics in the documentary. A mix of fast production blended with my digital workflow and the nostalgic vibe of the 80s-90s could potentially look really cool.

New Product Update

Last week was a bummer because some of the T-Shirt prints I was testing turned out to be massively shit! The vendor just didn’t care it seems, the quality of the fabric had deteriorated and stitch of wonky.

The coming Monday though a new set of products (T-Shirt prints, Bomber Jackets, A3 Prints) from a new vendor will arrive. Fingers crossed. It shouldn’t suck!

Creatives update

I cleaned up some of the roughs this week, and added colours. I am not really happy with the colours or the images, but the designs I like. They look mental! Which to my mind is always exciting. Hopefully by the end of the month, I should have a bank of assets.
