Bandar Chhaap | March Update

Hello,

How are things with you? It’s update time again. Though to be honest things have been slow at our end. We recently started working with an artist for our asset creation and are intently looking for a product manager and strategist. In this quarter we should be able to assemble a small team.

We have also been visiting new T-Shirts/Fashion/Lifestyle product vendors to better our product quality. What is surprising is that, we feel that the quality of products in the market has extensively deteriorated over the years. its actually disheartening to see. Ours is a very small setup, and the quality of the products is what we are banking on to get us a market fit. But the more we look, the harder it is to find consistent products.

On a less physical note though, our struggle to describe our brand has been going well. We started with some random ideas last year, but are now narrowing into a theme that aligns with our vision, namely — “CraftsPUNK”. (More on this later.)

We also registered our new domain to transition from Bandar Chhaap. The original name is difficult to type for non-Hindi speaking audience and the context was completely lost as well. And since we want to cater to a larger audience, something in English made more sense to us going forward. We will retain the bright pop visual identity that we are developing, but will align things to work more on the lines of the new name.

Already, we find that some of thees pop colours do not merge well with the crafts products we are creating. Which also means that we will need to tweak it more muted colours for such objects.

We also found a very interesting description of the history and business model of the brand — Chumbak.

Visually we continue to explore more possibilities, and there are more ideas for T-Shirt prints that we are refining and will setup on the store ASAP.
