Fellow humans!

WE SOLD OUT!

Though it was our first batch, and a relatively small batch at that, we sold out!

While designing the packaging, the adverts and putting it out there on marketplaces, the hope that our efforts would attract customers. Not knowing what the outcome would be, like all beginnings.

Personally, this is a decent start. It’s slow, by design, but there is progress.

In December of 2023, when I setup the first official stall, I knew very little about where this was headed. I had a few stationary and art prints, and Shopify seemed like an intimidating challenge. But, gradually, the website has became functional, logistics have started to fall into place, and just the little-est of progress is being made it feels.

Big thank you to everyone who is supporting this journey.

What worked for us?

One of our learnings has been to redefining our product segment better. Previously our statement, in essence, was that we are a shiny new product in your kitchen. But when we shared our product, we started receiving queries about the benefits of the Lakadong turmeric and not if it was some shiny new object. Which made us rethink how and what we were telling people.

Our turmeric is already a super star. It is known for its healthy product locally and is used as such. And so to market it as ordinary turmeric was the inaccurate message.

Coming soon — Meghalayan Pepper & ToteBag

Copy Idea — Our Pepper has 5% More Piperine in it. Organically grown in Meghalaya, it is packed with a bold flavour, natural heat, antioxidants, digestive properties, helps fight inflammation and supports nutrient absorption.

We just unboxed our canvas Totebags. The quality of the fabric is top-notch — 300 GSM Canvas fabric with a much bigger size 14″ x 16″ with long handles to carry more weight.

Still Rethinking the Art Direction 🙂

Art vs crafts — As discussed in previous posts, the creative direction need a long hard look into. Two alternatives that we have been toying with are — One, a graphic style with text. Two, is to work with some form of block printing. We have identified artisans who are working with carving, but we are yet to make anything. This is a very different design and crafting process, but it is a more natural fit for the brand.

For the art itself, a theme that we have been exploring is inspired by Bollywood. Along with a more traditional pen and ink style of abstractions.

That’s all the update so far. Until next time 🙂
