Chhaap in June

Hello, beautiful humans!

We’ve been working hard to get Bandar Chhaap off the ground this year, and it’s happening. Slowly. Very slowly 🙂

We updated our bio to describe us better. This does hit the mark. But its still too wordy.

About us

We are anti-mass production, anti-assembly line and anti-forgettable-line-of-products. We are about choosing fewer, better things. A potter refusing to rush his clay. We are an argument against convenience culture. Our belief is that things made with patience carry a different kind of energy. We reject the disposability — of objects, of traditions, or practices, and of stories.

New Product Alert — Lakadong Turmeric!

Yes, the real deal! We’ve added Lakadong Turmeric to our store — grown in the hills of Meghalaya, this stuff is seriously potent. It’s known for having some of the highest curcumin content in the world, which is great for reducing inflammation, improving digestion, boosting immunity, and just generally keeping your body from yelling at you.

We have personally been using it for a while now — it’s helped a lot with my gut health, recovery, and even focus in weird ways.

The good thing is that we’ve sourced it from our friends directly and packed it ourselves with love (and dehumidifiers… because turmeric hates humidity).

And we sold all but 5 packets. So get yours quick!

Fresh Drop: Premium Oversized Tees

We’ve finally got our hands on some buttery soft, heavy-duty oversized t-shirts—perfect for long days, slow weekends, or loud exits. (umm! The photography needs more work)
Here’s what makes them special:
• Relaxed, boxy unisex fit
• 100% combed cotton (240 GSM French Terry)
• Breathable, wrinkle-free, and smooth on the skin
• Printed with sustainable, toxin-free inks
• Made in India, with love and loud ideas

Our previous attempts at finding soft cotton teeshirts had failed misrably. But now that we have foudn what we weer looking for it should be fun to be selling these tees. The thing is that, these teeshirts are so good that we are thinking that we just might sell them without prints. But lets see.

Visual Branding — Back to Basics

While working with craftspeople from #Meghalaya and #westBengal last year. We realised that our screen-trained eyes had disconnected from natural dyes. Going forward our approach is going to be to bridge this gap through experimentation. We are still attached to the idea of the ‘cool’ from the MTV world we mentioned before. So this should be a journey if nothing else — But more tactile, analog palettes for our designs — partly inspired by natural dyes seem like the natural fit for our products.

We also found this really old documentary on colour theory which is deeply profound — Goethe’s Theory of Colors. This is going to be our guiding light. Do check it out.

On Illustration Style (And Rethinking Things)

In the last few updates (March & April), I shared a bunch of new illustrations. Looking back now, I like them… but they feel a bit disconnected. Funky? Yes. But maybe missing a larger story that unifies them. I think they were mostly me having fun at that point.

Bandar Chhaap, at its core, is more than quirky prints — it’s about slow products, crafting, and pushing back against planned obsolescence. As the product line grows, I want the visuals to echo that. Playful, yes — but grounded. Sustainable. Thoughtful. Sharp.

Local Community Ads

Last week we made a short ad for a local community group — which was the first ads for Bandar Chhaap. More of that coming soon. Small-scale, grassroots collaborations are something we’re going to lean into this year.

Here is the image that we attached with the AD.

Website + Backend Updates

We have a shiny new website.

Some honest feedback (and notes to self):
• Product photos need an upgrade — especially for the newer drops.
• SEO is sleepy. We’re going to start working on visibility and trust.
• Not enough presence for our local community collaborations.

Still, things are moving, and that’s what matters.

That’s all for now. Thanks for sticking around and being part of this wild little studio story.

Breathe 🙂
