Studio F-ARTs from June
Hello from this side of the m-verse!
There are updates; and there are updates. So let’s get into it.
ALL WILL RISE
I think its time I revealed that since January this year we have been collaborating with the Speculative Agency to design the video game All Will Rise. A beautiful story about a lawyer taking the big bad corporations to court for polluting and burning up a river!
The story is written to be very immersive and I am really enjoying the character and world-building. There is a lot of texture and relevance in the narrative. The characters feel real, and as the story progresses, you start to root for the river goddess and the protagonist. Being a cerebral game about winning a court case, you will be fully immersed in the gameplay.
Hopefully, I’ll be able to share more visuals soon. But for now check us out on our insta or bluesky.
We are slated for a kickstarter in the coming months…More on that later.
f-ARTs
Between working on Bandar chhaap and All Will Rise I have been spending way too much time in front of the screen — Which I absolutely detest!
It’s soh Boh-RINGG!!
But that said, I wanted to mix some traditional efforts into my life so I started drawing straight lines as my warmup everyday. It’s nothing visionary, but it feels really good to be doing this. I open a page and start drawing. No planning. No hangups. If it looks ugly then thats art, if it looks pretty then thats art. And in the middle I try and breathe as much as I can.
Bandar chhaap
Changing art direction — The more I worked on the images below, twelve of them in all, the more I did not like them. They are quirky but they are also very stiff, and that is really not what bandar chhaap is about. I feel that they lack character and connection. Theoretically I was trying to capture some pop culture references, some memes, if you will, but I think that does not come through in this. So I decided to can this approach…
…and I started drawing and painting more freely. The below visual style feels more in line with what we wanted. Its a long way from final, but it has the feeling of being crafted and believable. I am currently happy with it. But lets.
Goethe’s Theory of Colour
Still processing Goethe’s Theory of Colors by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe. (Listen to free audio book here)
Its beyond profound at this point. The philosophical implications aside, how we adapt one popular theory over another has come as an unintended realisation to me. Goethe’s idea of colour is diametrically opposite from the newtonian theory of light that we have all studied. In all the tutorials and whatever educational material I have consumed on art, I have only heard that one side of it. Which is sad at best.
Instead of looking at light, Goethe looks at darkness, almost in a Jungian sense. That the true identity of a person lies in his shadows — to fully realise our potential we have to look into our shadow side. Similarly, Goethe argues that there is colour in darkness. It is not the absence of light as we all are tuned to think.
I am still unpacking this so I will not go too deep into it until I have digested some of the core concepts properly.

New Collaborator at the Studio 🙂
In some more exciting news, we have been collaborating with Samiddha Choudhuri for some of our character work. He is a very talented ceramist and artist from Calcutta, West Bengal and an absolute charm to work with. We had collaborated with him last year for mural painting and sculptures, but to work with him in the capacity of an illustrator is equally amazing.
His lines are extremely emotive, and in the case of the characters we have been developing, he really captures their essence and expressions. Can’t share any of this work at the moment because of NDAs, but he just setup his beautiful ceramics studio so go show him some love on his instagram please.
Good people deserve good things 🙂

And thats all for today 🙂 Thanks for sticking around and being part of this studio update.
